Should we archive all student from 2018-2019 and then upload new student information f0r 2019-2020?

Ben Bever Aug 16, 2019 01:17PM PDT

I have archived last years 8th graders since they went to our HS. Should I also archive all 2018-2019 6th and 7th graders as well so we can upload our students this year with the correct grade levels in the SWIS system.

We do recommend going to SWIS first and archiving all students and then doing a fresh import which will only reactivate the students returning to school and make any updates to their record, such as grade level. As long as the ID number for each student on the new file matches what’s already assigned to that student in SWIS, it will update their record, not add them as a new user.
