Student File - Grade Value

Richard Endsley Dec 21, 2018 11:45AM PST

The SWIS Suite Person Import Specification: Staff and Student Data document has an example of student data on page 5. There is also an appendix on page with a Grades table. What value should be used for a grade? One of the values in the ID column, or a value from the Name column or a value from the NCESGrade column? The example shows values from the ID column, but also values which aren't in any of the columns. Close, but not the exact value. Example #1: Page 5, example 3, studentDistrictId 72 has a gradeId of Post12. Post12 doesn't exist in the Grades table from page 9. "Post 12" does exist, with the spaces and that is in the Name column. Example #2: Page 5, example 3, studentDistrictId 82 has a gradeId of PreKA. PreKA doesn't exist in the Grades table from page 9. "Pre K-A" does exist, with the spaces and the hyphen, which is in the Name column.

Page 9 of the SWIS Suite Person Import Specifications document has the list of identifiers that should be used for grade. You’ll want to use the column labeled ID when creating your file.
