I am looking for a how to in integrating SWIS with infinite campus. Could kindly point me in the direction of some instructions?
Thank you in advance!
You can find all current information on Data Integration on our Data Integration page, here.
The recommended Data Integration workflow for many schools would be to input referrals directly into SWIS, and then export the raw referral data from SWIS so that it can be imported into their SIS (Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, etc.).
To do this, single-entry for referral data in SWIS could be done using a new feature called Paperless Referral Entry, which you can learn about here. This feature will allow individual staff and faculty members to input referrals directly into SWIS for later approval by administrators.
You can then export SWIS referral data using a tool called SDEX. The referral data exported via -SDEX could then be used to populate your SIS. You can learn more about using SDEX here, but keep in mind that your district will likely have to transform that data before it can be imported into your system. Keep in mind that the transformation of data once exported is something that must be done by the school or district tech team. You can find more information about both the format of the data in the attached (CSV_File_layout) as well as the codes each file will have in it (SWIS_Referral_lookup_values) in the attached files.
Finally, you can also use our Person Import tool, which you can learn more about here (including a tutorial video and documentation). Person Import will allow you to import Persons (Staff, and Students) directly into SWIS.
Combining Paperless Referral Entry, Person Import and SDEX would allow you to have single-entry for your buildings, maintain an up-to-date person roster, and allow you to maintain up-to-date referral information in your SIS. Using these three features together are generally the best way to handle Data Integration within SWIS, but keep in mind that any one of these features can work independently, so using all three is not required.
Just as quick a reminder, SDEX, Paperless Referral Entry and Person Import are all available at no extra cost to any building with an active SWIS subscription!
